It is incorrect to say that people who suffer from allergies or asthma should renounce the natural comfort of a duvet. The New Virgin Feather does not provoke allergic reactions from dust mites, as is often erroneously claimed, and does not cause respiratory allergic reactions, such as asthma and hay fever. From important research carried out in Europe, it has been shown that pillows and duvets stuffed with New Virgin Feathers are not an ideal habitat for dust mites. Subject to regular maintenance, dust mites are not found within these items as the tight-weave Inlett fabric acts as an almost impenetrable barrier.

The microclimate of items stuffed with New Virgin Feathers (given the warmth and rapid elimination of moisture) represents a very unfavourable habitat for mites, which are moisture-dependent. Moreover, feathers are not a food that mites enjoy. It is therefore incorrect to advise a person allergic to dust mites against using products stuffed in new virgin feathers, being that there is no scientific evidence supporting this.
